"Very nice jeans; good fabric, comfortable fit. They were too long (and longer than the red Marilyn’s) but I hemmed them and they are now the right length. I wish they were a little narrower at the ankle."
"Disappointed about poor fit, bagging below the rear, and one pocket lower than the other. Poor construction."
"my perfect fitting jeans Have many pairs of different color & style."
"I’m very happy with them, but I’m not clever with a sewing machine, so had to pay to have them hemmed."
"The jeans themselves are nice. However, it took more than 4 washes to get a bad smell out of the fabric. I don't normally write reviews that are negative. I would have liked an easy way to contact the company to explain the situation."
"My new jeans are too big in the waist hips and the legs…everywhere except in the length. I have been wearing the same Marilyn jeans, size 12, for several years so I ordered and received size 12. Unfortunately they do not fit like my old jeans. I am thinking I should put them in the dryer. I notice, however, that the cotton content of the new jeans is 90% versus the 70% in my old jeans, and I am afraid they will shrink too much in the length. I cannot afford shrinkage in the length. What are your thoughts about getting the proper fit from my new jeans? If I ordered size 10 would the length be the same?"
"I have written twice to your customer service team complaining about the exorbitant cost of returning these jeans despite your website advertising free delivery and return. I have not had the courtesy of reply . Appalling customer service and I will not be using this site again!"
"I purchased the (I thought) the exact same jeans a year ago and I believed I was getting the same ones this time. Same name, size, color. These are much smaller and the fabric is more dense. Not the same jeans."
"These are the only jeans that fit me best. They leave plenty of breathing space because the waist does not become tighter when I sit. They fit perfectly from top to bottom. The material is soft and comfy and the color does not quickly fade. I always come back to NYDJ for my jeans because other brands just can't meet my needs. I am so grateful for NYDJ!"
The Marilyn Straight has a slightly higher rise and a clean straight leg that elongates the silhouette. It's cut true to size for most customers, with our signature Lift Tuck® Technology panel built into the waistband and seat to smooth and support without changing the fit through the leg. If you're between sizes, size down for a more fitted look through the hip or size up for extra ease.
Lift Tuck® is NYDJ's proprietary inner construction — a hidden shaping panel sewn into the waistband and seat that lifts, tucks, and smooths the tummy and rear without the bulk of external shapewear. It's built into the jean itself, so there's nothing extra to wear underneath.
Check the size chart on this page for the exact waist/hip measurements for this style. As a general guide: size down for a closer, more tailored fit.
The Missy/Regular Marilyn is cut for average height (typically 5'4"–5'8"). If you need a shorter or longer inseam, see our Marilyn Petite or Marilyn Tall collections, which use the same silhouette re-graded for different heights.
Machine wash cold, inside out, with like colors. Avoid high heat in the dryer — tumble low or hang dry — since excess heat breaks down the elastane fibers and reduces stretch recovery over time. Skip fabric softener, which coats the fibers and dulls stretch performance.
Yes. The Marilyn Straight is produced using earth-friendly methods that reduce consumption of water, chemicals, and energy compared to conventional denim processing.
